What would you think the next commission discount should be?
What would you think of a 'pay what you'd like' commission drive?
Would you promote that for me if I did it?
I'm still pretty much a mess beside that.
So, instead, here's a joke:
Two drunken fonts enter a bar. Skirts far too short and doing a Britney. Everyone saw their Serifs. Bartender gave them a look over and said, "Get outta here. We don't serve your type!"
But I wonder what you would do if a costumer desides not to pay for it and trying to scam you?
Could be risky. If you can deal with the risk than you should try it.
I had a few Craigslist jobs that I provided finished images to... and they vanished as soon as they got proofs. It happened a lot - A LOT - with logo work. I even went from thumbnail to prisma color to 3D Max finish... only to have them poof when it came time to pay / me hand over all the .ai, .psd and .max files. It was a pretty bad burn because it was for a grand and I did my very very best on each item only to have them skip the check.
As for living on the payment, I'm good until next month. Not great in the least but good. I got this month's bills paid. Not grocery or diapers but the bills/rent are paid up. I did a lot of work with Social Media Index ([link] , etc) that I'm waiting to get paid on... but it looks like my bank accounts might be seized before I get the automatic payments.
So, in many ways, I was viewing it as a possible therapy to get out of the funk that I'm in and get new people interested.
I think you should be paid what your worth. Are commissions slow? People are in debt after Christmas maybe.

Last year, I was working most in January with June being my second most productive month. Mind, last January I was open to a lot more (and people didn't want me showing the work [personal original characters, girls being mounted by wolves, etc] so that actually doesn't translate with my gallery) and I was a bit more well off when it comes to bills.
I've followed some artists that do the 'pay what you want' sort of drive and get a lot more people interested in the art.
In many ways, I'm hoping it shoves me out of the depression. I spoke with my lawyer yesterday and it really was a reality collision. I'm on a timeline of more and more things being taken from me. My father, my grand father, my grand mother, my uncle... so all of my father's side - poof, the debt entered the picture then only to take away my ability to get a high paying job in my field due to credit score, now my driver's license and my bank accounts will be seized. Aside from working (though that paycheck is also tied to my bank account), I was thinking it might be a fruitful experiment. Something to get my mind off things but also be like, 'look, I'm not ignoring everyone right now - I'm working. See, I got paid for it.'
